![]() Petanque is one version of the French game of Boule. Its a great social game and easy to learn whether your 8 or 80 so come and give it a go. To find out more about the club read on. After two years of hard work and co-operation between Mike Knight,a Worthing teacher,and the sports Development Office of Worthing Borough Council,a Lottery grant was obtained and a four-piste terrain was built at Field Place,Goring.Following an inaugural meeting organised by Mike,Worthing Pentanque Club was formed in November 1997 with approximatley 25 members. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength and now has approximately 30 adult members and a thriving Junior section run by Kath Knight a qualified coach. In 1998 the Club entered the Sothern Region six-a-side League, in spite of all the players being novices,and finished second from bottom of the forth division In 1999 they finished third from top,narrowly missing promotion to the third division by a few points and in 2000 they achieved promotion. ^ back to top ^ |
